John Next Door

The card today is from Kerry’s class this week using stamps by John Lockwood.

The stamp set used is Autumn Flowers and inking and blending has been done with Distress Inks.

Back tomorrow with Kerry’s second card.

Falling Leaves

Another autumnal card today using a big background stamp by Joy which I stamped onto Papyrus cardstock with Versamark ink. Much easier to use with a stamping tool such as Press to Impress as you can apply ink and stamp a few times to darken image if first stamp wasn’t sufficient. I inked around the edges with Distress Oxide Walnut stain ink.

The leaves are from a great die by Joy again and it is a little strip full of different leaf designs. I took some scrap white card about twice the width of the die so I had enough to run the die through twice. I used Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Candied Apple, Wilted Violet and Peeled Paint and blended them together over the cardstock.  Once I had run it through the die cutting machine on top of my blended cardstock I ended up with a lovely collection of leaves which I attached to my background piece with glue and some on foam pads. The rest I put away in a little bag for use another time. Finished off with  sentiment from Woodware and a little inking around the edge.

Great for a mans card I think. Hope you like it, everything used is available for the shop.

Next time I will be back with Christmas card ideas from my Creative Expressions Die Cutting class.

Red Squirrel card

Its a gorgeous autumnal day in Essex today so this card is very appropriate. It’s not often you see a squirrel stamp and this new one from Marianne is a fab layering one.

It consists of 4 layers that build on top of each other to complete the image. I stamped it onto some Coconut White Foundations card and then die cut it out using a die from the Presscut Stitched Oval die set.  The inks I used are the little Versacolor pads in Topaz, Paprika, Brown and Pine cone. I stamped the sentiment which is from a Woodware set in Pine cone.

The leaves and acorns are from another Marianne set and I used more Versacolors this time  in Marigold, Orange, Bark and Pine cone and the acorns were stamped with the same colours as the Squirrel. There are two different leaf sizes in the pack, again using four different stamps to build the layers. You also get four more stamps for the acorns. They were all cut out and arranged using foam pads and some twine wrapped through them for a bit of rustic look.

The background was created using one of the outline stamps from the leaf stamp set using Versamark ink on Chestnut card.  Card base was also made from Coconut White.

Hope you like back again tomorrow with another autumnal card and Distress Oxide inks.

Autumnal birthday

I had a break from Christmas cards in class last week and we made some seasonal birthday cards.

Today’s card uses a new stamp from Woodware Bold Blooms Julia. To me it look like a Chrysanthemum and I used Distress Oxides in Spiced Marigold and Candid Apple in the centre. The green ink is Peeled Paint and the border stamps are from Phil Martin Inspirational Borders stamp set.  The sentiment comes with the flower set and was inked with Distress Oxide Walnut Stain .

We used the Crafts Too Press to Impress tool to stamp the images.

Back tomorrow with a card suitable for a mans birthdays.

Craftwork Cards Christmas Past collection part 3

Last few cards I made using this kit from Craftwork Cards. First one uses one of the die cuts and I made a frame from the waste part. The middle frame is attached to aperture of acetate and a attached some patterned paper on the back. The Poinsettias came from one of the papers in the pad, candi to finish.

Second card is a That Special Touch mask called Nordic Christmas, which has been embossed and then Distress Ink Pumice Stone blended over the top whilst mask still in place. I used some off cuts of the patterned papers to make some ribbons and added one of the die cuts and bow together with a sentiment.

Last card is a small square pre scored card which I cut off about 1″ from the front and added a paper strip on the back. The rickrack border is off of the border/bows sheet. The wreath has been created by fussy cutting out the Holly from one of the papers. The pierced stitched frame is from the Presscut Rectangle Stitched dies that are now available to buy in the shop. Circle and banner sentiment to finish with some more Candi.

Back soon with a break in Christmas cards and something more seasonal.

Craftwork Cards Christmas Past collection part 2

Back again with a few more ideas for the Christmas Past pack I used in class.  The first card is actually one of the 6×6 sheets from the paper pad. I took two  square straight edged layering dies, placed them onto the paper after I had trimmed it down to size to fit the card and then run it through my machine. Attached the largest piece to a square of Kraft card, then added foam pads onto the second square and attached to card matching up the pattern. The last square goes in with two layers of foam pads behind it and again match up the patterns. I used some Walnut Stain Distress Oxide ink around the edges to give it more raised look. Finished off with a banner sentiment from the dies cut sheets.

Second card is very quick and is just four rectangles of the patterned papers and a matted Father Christmas image with one of the bows on the bottom. A sentiment and some Candi to finish off. The card blank is 7″x5″.

Last one for today uses one of the scalloped edge die cuts, together with a sentiment and one of the bows. Just a strip of patterned paper down the side and I used the Sue Wilson Poinsettia die to cut out some flower from one of the patterned papers. I made some little glitter dots using Stickles Diamonds glue for the centres.

Back tomorrow with the last few cards.  If you want to keep upto date with our blog posts we now have a subscribe button on the right hand column, fill in your email address and get an email sent directly to you every time we post something on here.

Craftwork Cards Christmas Past

Craftwork Cards Collection packs are this months product of the month. I decided on the Christmas Past collection to use in class. With my half of the kit I made ten cards but you can easily replicate the cards featuring the Father Christmas die cuts as you get a lot in the kit. So as not to make this a huge post I will show the cards over the next few days.

First up a shaker card using on the Father Christmas die cuts. I used the Presscut Stitched Rectangles to create a frame to hold the acetate window and the Creative Expressions Iced Snow Glitter Jewels.  The bows are in the pack as well as coordinating Candi. Lots of sentiment die cuts to choose from as well as a paper sheet full of them to cut out.

The second card  uses another Father Christmas image, simply trimmed leaving some of the white showing around the edge and some of the patterned papers in the pad and some Candi.

Last one for today uses Stitched Frame dies again to create a tartan frame and mat of card behind. The Father Christmas is actually on one of the papers that I trimmed down to fit inside the frame. I did some fussy cutting of Holly from another paper to go in the corners. Candi again on the corners and a sentiment from the die cuts.

Back tomorrow with some more ideas. This class is being repeated on Saturday 28th at 2.00pm places are limited.

Young At Heart Class

The cards today are from my Young At Heart class for a couple of weeks ago.  First one uses a mask from That Special Touch called Nordic Christmas together with one of the Sue Wilson Dies Here Comes Santa Snow Globe Scene. The mask has been coloured with Creative Expressions Cloud Chalk ink Misty Grey. I filled the shaker cup with Creative Expressions Glitter Jewels Iced Snow. Mark Richards Glitter Domes were added in the corners and the sentiment is from Creative Expressions Santa Sentiments.

Next one uses a stamp set from Hunkydory called Snowy Snow Globe. The Snow acetate behind is also from Hunkydory and comes in a A4 pack. I used a Creative Expressions Cloud ink Clear Day around the edges and the snow was created with the Glitter Jewels as used in the first card. The colouring was done with some Promarkers. Sentiments are in the stamp set and I used Stazon Ink for the one on the acetate.

Last one for today and probably my favourite because I love using Fluffy Stuff. The stamp is from Craft UK and is called Santa and Pals (those stamps are on a Buy 2 get 1 free at moment) and its coloured with Promarkers. I used Woodware Fluffy stuff in White on his moustache and bobble, which you apply and then heat with a heat gun.  I stamped the image twice and then cut out the moustache and nose to create a 3D effect but you don’t have to. The background was created using a sponge and some of the Cloud ink I used for the second card.  The little snowflake stamp was stamped with Silver pigment ink and is in the Santa Sentiments stamp set. I also used the Ho Ho Ho and Santa Claus is coming to town stamps from the same set. Finally I added some Glamour Dust for a little twinkle on the snowflakes and a White gel pen for detail on his hat and nose.

This class is being repeated on Saturday 21st October at 2.00pm . Have a fab weekend and hopefully you can get a chance to craft.
